Bidirectional vehicles and chargers are now shipping, but most utility V2G efforts stall once the pilot ends. The obstacle is usually not the hardware. It is readiness: whether a utility can fund a business case, enroll and keep real customers, protect batteries and bills, and produce measurement and verification that will hold up for settlement after the demonstration is over.
This session treats V2G readiness as a question about the operating model rather than the technology. It follows the path from managed one-directional charging (V1G) to bidirectional export (V2G) and looks at what a utility has to build at each step. Drawing on managed charging programs and bidirectional work across North America and Europe, the panel will cover where programs get stuck between pilot and scale, and how customer experience and grid value can be built together instead of traded off.
The objective is a practical readiness framework a utility can use before its next V2G procurement.
